What Fluently is

Fluently ("AI Language Tutor - Fluently" on the App Store, by Engcraft) is an iPhone app for learning a language by speaking it. It combines a structured course in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Turkish (1,000 phrases and 248 lessons each, from A1 to B2) with AI conversation practice by chat or voice call in 29 languages: 385 role-play scenarios, 210 topics and 41 personas, with corrections on every message and scored pronunciation.

How it works

One app, four tabs, one loop.

Learn

A course that makes you talk

8 sections from A1 to B2, each with five units and a grammar guidebook. Lessons are about 16 quick steps, and most of them have you saying something out loud.

Practice

Real conversations with AI

Pick a scenario, a topic or a persona and chat or call in your target language. Every scenario has goals, so a conversation has a point and an end.

Study

Your mistakes come back

Phrases you missed, words you learned and lines you saved, plus Speak and Listen drills, weak words and a daily lesson built from your own chats.

Stories

Short reads, read aloud

18 stories per course from A1 to B1, each read by one of the characters, with questions at the end.

Practice

Say it badly. Get it fixed. Say it again.

Each message you send is rated Perfect, Good or Revision needed, with a more natural way to say it. Tap any reply to translate it, ask for suggestions when you are stuck, and save the lines you want to keep.

There are 385 scenarios in 20 categories, from ordering coffee to asking for time off, plus 210 open topics and 41 personas, from a patient teacher to a Gen Z friend who only speaks in slang.

Sure! Anything else?

¿Tienen algún dulce?

Questions

What is Fluently about?

Fluently is an iPhone app, made by Engcraft, LLC, for learning a language by speaking it. It has two halves: a step-by-step course with short lessons, and AI conversation practice where you chat or call with an AI partner in real-life situations and get corrected as you go. Everything you get wrong comes back later in your reviews.

Which languages can I learn?

There is a full course, from A1 to B2, in 9 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Turkish. Conversation practice by chat and voice call works in 29 languages, adding Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Swedish, Norwegian, Polish, Greek, Hebrew, Danish, Hindi, Czech, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Hungarian, Romanian, Indonesian, Finnish, Malay, Persian.

Is there a free trial available?

Fluently is free to download and your first 3 lessons are free. The Speak and Listen drills on your own phrases stay free. Fluently Pro unlocks every lesson, unlimited conversations and calls, stories and unlimited Match Madness. If your Apple ID is eligible, Pro starts with a free trial; the app tells you before you subscribe. Prices are shown in the app and you can cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.

What makes Fluently different from other apps?

Most apps do one of two things: a course that rarely makes you speak, or an AI chat with no course around it. Fluently does both in one place, and they feed each other. The course teaches the phrases, the conversations make you use them, and the phrases you get wrong in a chat become your next daily lesson.

How does the AI conversation practice work?

Pick a scenario (ordering food, a job interview, a phone call, returning something at a shop), a topic or a persona, then type or hold the mic and speak. The AI partner answers in your target language, and each of your messages is rated Perfect, Good or Revision needed, with a better way to say it. You can translate any reply, ask for suggestions when you are stuck and save useful lines. There are 385 scenarios in 20 categories, each with goals to complete.

Can I talk to the AI out loud?

Yes. Start a call and talk hands-free: the partner listens, answers with a voice, and you can turn on subtitles, change the level or pause. When you hang up you get a summary with your accuracy, time, turns and XP.

Does Fluently check my pronunciation?

Yes. Speaking steps in lessons score what you say and mark the words to work on, and the Study tab has a Speak drill that runs through your phrases out loud. Pronunciation mistakes are kept so you can practice them again.

What levels does the course cover?

Each course has 8 sections from A1 to B2, 248 lessons and 1,000 phrases, with a grammar guidebook for every section. A placement step lets you skip what you already know.

Is Fluently good for IELTS or job interviews?

It is a speaking practice app, not an exam course. The Workplace and Career and Goals scenarios include interviews, meetings and presentations, and the voice call is a low-pressure way to rehearse speaking under time. For IELTS scoring and official tasks, use a dedicated exam prep app alongside it.

Which devices does Fluently run on?

iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The app itself is available in 28 interface languages.
